This chart examines a number of issues relating to smokefree policies in different forms of housing. It explains what kinds of enforcement for smokefree policies are permitted in various types of housing and addresses other issues, such as notice requirements and implementation methods for new smokefree policies in the different housing types. The chart was prepared by Warren Ortland, staff attorney with the Public Health Law Center in Minnesota.

This chart describes the key players in the affordable and market-rate housing communities, their main interests, and how to frame the issue of voluntary smoke-free housing policies to address their desires and concerns. It was compiled by Serena Chen, Regional Policy Director in the Greater Bay Area office of the American Lung Association in California.
