Consumer Advocates to File Complaint with FTC against Leading Food Company
As consumer advocates file a complaint Wednesday with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) against one of America’s leading food and beverage companies for its use of digital marketing techniques to target youth, Public Health Law & Policy released a new report on digital marketing tactics routinely used by fast food, snack food, and soft drink companies. The report identifies specific marketing campaigns that exploit teenagers’ use of digital media, and calls for federal policy interventions to address these tactics in light of rising obesity rates.
