PHLP Recognized by White House as Resource for Building Healthier Communities
“How to Make Healthy Changes in Your Neighborhood,” a PHLP fact sheet that provides a roadmap toward making healthier food more accessible, has been featured as a key resource on LetsMove.gov.
The website, which provides tools and materials for communities and individuals, was launched as part of Michelle Obama’s new campaign to prevent obesity in America’s children.
Today, the first lady announced “Let’s Move,” a national campaign that promotes the availability of healthy, affordable food in schools and communities, and encourages more physical activity for American children.
LetsMove.gov also features the work of PHLP’s childhood obesity prevention program, which provides a range of materials on making schools healthier and more active.
In the last few years, a new understanding of the built environment’s impact on health has brought the public health community and planners together to develop a variety of innovative land use policies that promote health.
